The terms have been changing and then getting co-op’ed in really short times. I remember using UX/UI in 2011. All of a sudden, it meant graphic designers who like to wireframe. Oops not me, OK, I’m a product designer. All of a sudden, that means visual designers who like to wireframe. Oops, not me, now what.
I don’t think codification takes 20 years anymore. Not in today’s connected world.
Evangelism doesn’t work. You can keep trying if you want, but it won’t work. We need to go the route of documenting the failed and failing products, features, and projects at companies. Showing the money and time that burned. Showing the customer trust that burned. And showing how CX and UX would have improved those situations and mitigated that risk.
If you “Evangelize” anything, and I kinda hope you don’t, try evangelizing CX/UX as risk mitigation. And improving agility by using customers’ definitions of “quality” and “done.” Get people to care about the customers’ definition of quality (versus the Engineering lead’s definition), and you’re on your way.
