It depends. If you can find high quality books, videos, courses, etc. and then practice and apply the knowledge (hopefully with a mentor or coach checking your work), then “self study” can be OK. It doesn’t have to be college or uni classes.

I can’t speak for others, but I care more about what you learned, what you know, and how you USE it than WHERE you learned it.
