Yes, we need to push on UX managers and leaders more. They said yes to BS hoping people will like us or care about what we do. We’re years into those shitty plans, and newsflash, they still don’t get what we do, and they pretend to care about users. They now say “empathy” because they heard us say it.

I just had someone email me that Spool says this, but he really means this (positive) thing. I don’t know what it is about him that makes people not hear his consistent messages, and assume he means something better. He does not.

I like to say he has two modes: killing the UX profession, and saying enough positive things about UX to fool you into think he’s not really killing it… but the positive things were stolen from me, Larry Marine, and others. They don’t come from him.

People need to keep that critical thinking on when they see him. Don’t assume he means something better than what he’s saying.
