I am not longer following startups so I can’t say I know any that seem to be getting it right. I did meet a startup founder recently who saw the same problem I did. I thought it was fixed with research. He thought it was fixed by building some sort of analytical tool. My thought was: and if you don’t research, how will you know the tool is the right thing to build? How will you know what the problems are and how to solve them?

It’s even hard to follow stories of startups. Some guy commented earlier here to tell me how wrong I was and check out his friend’s startup. He followed LS and look how successful he was! Turned out the guy didn’t follow LS. He didn’t release an MVP. He hired a team of data scientists to write him an algorithm, and released what sounded like a bold version 1.

It’s hard to really know what any startup is doing. And success is so rare that we should question the methodology. Do you have any examples?
